You're thinking about sending a message but...
As an introverted, very independent person, this is the question I would have! Hmm... If I send a message with just a quick question, what does that set me up for? Not that you need my validation, but I feel like this is a legit question.
If you send me a message either through the "contact me" box or the secure messaging link, I will read the message, consider whether or not you seem to be in immediate danger, and then answer your question. Assuming you're not in danger, once I answer your question, that's it. I will not contact you again unless I promised to follow-up with something or you ask me to. You won't be added to a mailing list. I am very interested in your questions and ideas and goals, but I will not contact you unsolicited.
If I think you may be in danger, I may ask you several questions in return and I will absolutely follow-up in an assertive manner. In fact, if you threaten to harm yourself or someone else, hint that there's child abuse happening, hint at elder/dependent adult abuse, or anything like that, I have to report that. This is the law, your safety matters, and counselors tend to take the possibility of having their license taken away very seriously.
